Re: 2020's Horror so far
This has been a great decade for horror movies. The late 2010's deserve some credit for what we have now. 2016 is where this trend of more serious, darker films as James stated began and it has only improved since.
As for the debate over what qualifies as horror and what does not is interesting. Alien is a good example from Dances. That film is horror IMO, same with Alien 3. It was Cameron's Aliens to took it into Sci-Fi.

I say that the films from the 70s and 80s are still more brutal in ways that the newer films are not. There was less censorship back then. Or at least until the mid to late 80s.

I just noticed Lazzy has Exorcist: Believer on there...I think he's the first person I know that liked it

I enjoyed it for what it is. I don’t get all the hate.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 1:28 pm I just noticed Lazzy has Exorcist: Believer on there...I think he's the first person I know that liked it![]()
Exorcist 3 is the best sequel imo.

So we finally got around to watching Obsession a week or so ago. I enjoyed the acting, the lead actress is easily my number one pick to play Vicky Sullivan (Reign). But to be honest. I don't get all the hype. There's way too many plot holes and unaddressed questions left at the end. The whole be careful what you wish for thing works for me but I wish we could have gotten an explanation for what was truly behind it.Lazerus wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 10:48 pmMy gf and I are planning to go see it for sure.
It's not a bad film but definitely not one I will watch again.
